Located in Will County, Illinois, University Park is a village located outside of Chicago. As of 2010, the community had approximately 7,200 residents, and it is home to Governors State University. This village is one of the few planned communities in the region, and it was known as Wood Hill and Park Forest South before finally receiving its current name. University Park is situated on the Valparaiso Moraine, which also serves as the Eastern Continental Divide.

The Nathan Manilow Sculpture Garden features nearly 30 sculptures on open prairie land, and the Thorn Creek Woods Nature Preserve features numerous outdoor recreational opportunities.
